Bee Blocks & a Quilt

After the trip to Seattle, the guilt overcame me & I got caught up on my bee blocks thru August.
For PTQB, Katie sent vintage sheets, a solid, and the Amy Butler rose buds, requesting blocks similar to Oh Frannson!’s Mod Sample Quiltalong.

Also PTQB, Jody requested Drunk Love blocks to be made into a quilt for [...]

It’s Started!

Jacquie (yes, that Jacquie) just posted the blocks she made for me for my month of PTQB.  LOVE LOVE LOVE!!

Bee Blocks

I played catch-up on my PTQB blocks this past weekend… I was most horribly tardy on Sandy’s block for March – the dreaded cathedral window:

Ultimate verdict – one block wasn’t so bad to make…but I would never do an entire quilt this way.
Colleen requested some simple half-square triangles for April:

Easy peasy and a [...]

Figured Out???

Thanks to Beth & Rebekah for the suggestion of using my pink & orange fabrics for a string quilt.  While I like the idea, I’m not going with that plan (haha)…but I think I’m going to use the premise of one unifying element/fabric coupled with scrappy to *hopefully* achieve the same type of cohesiveness in [...]

Seeking Opinions

So my month for PTQB is coming up in May, and I have a giant pile of pink & orange fabrics I’m planning to send out.  The problem is that I think I have too many fabrics:
13 Flea Market Fancy prints (all at least a FQ)
8 Hope Valley prints (Fiesta colorway – a yard each)
12 [...]

An Observation

It’s funny how fabric can inspire you as a sewist/quilter/junkie/whatever you want to call yourself.
I’ve been thinking about this the past couple of days, after I posted the block I made for Valerie for PTQB to Flickr:

Valerie’s inspiration was this quilt and she sent out some Heather Ross Mendocino in the browns & aquas plus [...]

Pretty Pink

My stack ‘o fabrics that I’m going to be sending out for my month of PTQB2:

I’m so excited, my Hope Valley finally arrived to supplement my Flea Market Fancy stash & Heather Ross pretties.
And isn’t she cute?  I got her from the Craft Hope for Haiti etsy site:

She needs a name, any suggestions?

One for the Road…

The last block I made for my PTQB Zippity Doo Dah quilt.  It’s called the “Box Quilt.”   I have 23 more blocks to sash up to 15″, then I can arrange block placement, sew together, and border with this fabric.  This is definitely all happening in that alternate universe where I actually have TIME!

Steve really likes this block [...]

It Figures

Figures that I got a little sew-jo back right before I’m going to have to pack up my machine for a few weeks.  But at least I got my VQB blocks done that I have fabric for…
Anyway, because I’m psychotic, I joined another quilting bee with Mary from AQB2 – this group is on facebook, [...]

Quarter of the Way…

Over the weekend, I managed to finish Sandy’s string blocks for PTQB:

I didn’t get around to making my version, because I got a bug up my butt to work a bit more on the never-ending Flutterby quilt.
And by Sunday night, I had a quarter of the top completed:

As you can see, this is already pretty [...]
